A Look Ahead to Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants

Asia's 50 Best Restaurants Forum 2013

On February 24, 2014, restaurateurs, chefs, food lovers and media from around the world will turn their attention to Singapore for the unveiling of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2014. For the second year in a row, Diners Club International® is the Official Financial Services Sponsor of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, continuing our time-honored association with fine dining.

Last year, top honors went to Narisawa, a restaurant in Tokyo helmed by Chef Yoshihiro Narisawa. An environmentalist, Chef Narisawa infuses nature into every dish. Using seasonal ingredients blended with classical French cooking techniques, this restaurant offers delicate dishes that delight the palate.

If Chef Narisawa and his fellow winners on the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants for 2013 are any indication, the competition again will be stiff this year.

The event this year in Singapore will include a forum and workshops to explore the culinary artistry and diversity celebrated in the top 50 list. The forum, hosted on February 23, will blend hot topics presented by some of the most innovative culinary minds in the world. Hosted by Chef David Thompson and journalist Per Styregård, the forum will incite fiery debate as questions are posed to leading chefs about anything from the role of sustainable cooking to how celebrity chefs affect the industry. But don’t worry, even the most heated debates will be cooled by the Forum Cocktail Party.

Looking for something more hands on? Global gastronomy leaders like Chef Narisawa and Joan Roca, co-owner of El Celler de Can Roca in Spain and winner of first place on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2013, host intimate kitchen demos for the Signature Dishes workshop on February 24, leading up to the awards. These chefs will cook their most prized dish while discussing inspiration, technique, and style. If that’s not enticing enough, each interactive session will end with samples of the dishes prepared during the workshop.
