Chef-Innovator Henderson Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Some take the road less traveled and this year’s Diners Club® Lifetime Achievement Award winner is no exception. Fergus Henderson, the founding partner of one of the United Kingdom’s most influential restaurants, St. John, and a UK culinary patriarch, has captured admirers from across the globe with his unconventional ‘head-to-tail’ dining.

Henderson’s contribution to the culinary world has grown both in the kitchen and outside its walls. In 2012, he released his third book and his efforts to continue nurturing and developing future chefs may be his eternal stamp within an industry that will forever be indebted to his genius.

For members of the Diners Club International community, fine dining is an exploration of different cultures and flavors. Chef Henderson has dedicated his career to indigenous gastronomy, using ingredients and techniques that pay homage to classic British dining.

So to applaud his revered career, Henderson has been awarded this Lifetime Achievement Award as part of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards 2014. I look forward to presenting him with this prestigious award in London on April 28, 2014. The award is voted for by over 900 international restaurant industry experts and well-traveled gourmets who comprise The Diners Club® World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy. Past winners include Alain Ducasse, Thomas Keller, and Juan Mari Arzak, among others.
