Highlights from the 2015 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters

Last month, I had the great pleasure of joining colleagues and partners for the 18th Annual Commercial Bank Qatar Masters from January 21-24 at the Doha Golf Club in Qatar.

As a premier tournament of the European Tour, the professional competition was fierce, with South African Branden Grace ultimately taking home the Mother of Pearl Trophy on January 24 after four days of play.

As the Preferred Card of the tournament, Diners Club International® had the privilege of playing in the professional-amateur (“pro-am”) tournament for sponsors, which kicked off the Masters on Tuesday, January 20. English pro David Howell led one Diners Club team, which included Diane Offereins, Discover Financial Services President of Payment Services; Alessandro Seralvo, CEO of Cornèrcard, the Diners Club issuing partner in Switzerland; and Sandeep Chouhan, the COO of the Commercial Bank of Qatar, the Diners Club issuing partner in Qatar. A gala awards dinner at the St. Regis Doha followed the day’s festivities.

In addition to Diners Club President Eduardo Tobon, we had the pleasure of welcoming representatives from our Middle East franchises to the Masters. Colleagues from Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Oman, Lebanon and Jordan were able to enjoy the tournament and the Diners Club hospitality suite.

On top of four days of world-class golfing, the tournament offers daily entertainment — reggae band UB40 headlined the evening musical offerings — as well as family-friendly activities such as mini-golf. We look forward to participating in this exciting event in the years to come.

Thank you and congratulations to all who participated in this year’s tournament!
