Celebrating Chef Daniel Boulud’s Lifetime Achievement Award

We are honored to celebrate award-winning chef and restaurateur Daniel Boulud, named the winner of the The Diners Club® Lifetime Achievement Award for The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2015. This year marks the 10th anniversary of this prestigious award that celebrates the extraordinary achievements of chefs from around the globe, so it’s especially poignant that it goes to this world-renowned chef.

Boulud’s unique vision for French cuisine, his relentless creativity, and the many accolades of his global restaurant empire all contribute to a storied legacy that’s still in the making. He is known for his celebrated restaurant Daniel, an eponymous fine dining destination in the heart of New York City’s Upper East Side, in its 22nd year running. Boulud is also legendary for an esteemed wine list that includes 2,000 (including many rare) selections, not to mention a dining empire spanning the globe including restaurants in New York, Las Vegas, Singapore, the UK and Canada.

Boulud captures the virtue of French gastronomy from his native Rhone Valley and adds an American twist, using seasonal ingredients. It is for this important contribution in bridging the gap between classic and ‘nouvelle’ cuisine that Boulud has been recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award, voted for by almost 1,000 international restaurant industry experts and well-travelled gourmets who make up The Diners Club® World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy. We look forward to presenting Boulud with his award in person on June 1 at The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2015 awards event at London’s Guildhall.

In the meantime, get a glimpse of Chef Boulud’s initial reaction to what this award means to him and his dream for his guests to leave the world behind and indulge in fine cuisine when dining at one of his restaurants.

Boulud has received a number of other accolades, including the James Beard Award for Best Chef in New York City in 1992, Outstanding Chef of the Year in 1994, Outstanding Restauranteur in 2006 for Daniel, and in 2013 he was inducted into the Culinary Hall of Fame. Boulud also hosts “After Hours with Daniel,” a behind-the-scenes look at late-night dinners with chefs and for chefs.

Upon winning the award, the chef remarked that “Restaurant Daniel is 22 years old, but I’m looking forward to the next 20!” We look forward to watching him continue his success and congratulate him for his many accomplishments to date!
