Diners Club Local Guide to London

There are just a few days left until we travel to London for The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2015 Awards. A 21st century city with a history stretching back to Roman times, London is an amazing cosmopolitan city. With a multitude of spoken languages and a global cuisine, there’s something intriguing to experience at every turn. Diners Club International® uncovers the hidden gems of London and shows you how to experience this city like a local.

This offer is available for bookings made between July 20 and September 6, 2015.

What to Eat

English Breakfast

A very European café-restaurant famous for attracting media types, The Wolseley is a great place to feast on a giant English breakfast. Choose from fried, poached or scrambled eggs served with bacon, sausage, baked beans, tomato, black pudding and mushroom. Breakfast is served here seven days a week, although coming here for Sunday brunch is another local tradition. Another great London pastime to enjoy here: afternoon tea.

French Fare

England has a 1,000-year cross-channel rivalry with France, so dining on modern haute French cuisine is par for the course. Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester on the corner of Hyde Park is one of only two restaurants holding three Michelin stars in the country. Signature dishes include sauté of lobster chicken quenelles and homemade pasta. Diners Clubmembers, sip on a complimentary glass of champagne per guest or a bottle of champagne for parties of 4 or more guests. For reservations, please refer to the Diners Club Privileges.

Sunday Roast

Pub going is a London must-do, as is a Sunday roast.  You can do both at The Gun, which on Sundays serves up roast rump and roast belly of pork, in addition to a wide range of puddings and cheeses. Elegant white linen and a view of the river at this gastropub make it a London experience to remember. Meetings at The Gun for up to 22 guests in your group are currently only 30 GBP when they occur during the day.

What to Do

If strolling through Hyde Park, afternoon tea, a visit to the pub, Theatreland, shopping on Sloane Street, and Sunday brunch isn’t enough for you, we have more ideas. The Tower of London, the Churchill War Rooms and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre are among the top attractions included in a London Pass. In addition to free admission to more than 60 London attractions, the London Pass also includes discounts at numerous gift shops and restaurants so you can get the full London experience.
