The World’s 50 Best Restaurants were awarded this week on June 1, with El Cellar de Can Roca winning the coveted slot as the No. 1 Restaurant. El Cellar de Can Roca edged out last year’s winner Noma, which slid down a few spots to No. 3. This was one of the many high points of the prestigious event. Awards were presented at London’s Guildhall.

Representing Diners Club International, it was an honor to present the Diners Club® Lifetime Achievement Award to Chef Daniel Boulud. This year marks the 10th anniversary of this prestigious award that celebrates the extraordinary achievements of chefs around the globe, so it’s especially poignant that it goes to this world-renowned chef.

Daniel Boulud Accepts Lifetime Achievement Award

Boulud captures the virtue of French gastronomy from his native Rhone Valley and adds an American twist, using seasonal ingredients. It is for this important contribution in bridging the gap between classic and “nouvelle” cuisine that Boulud has been recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award, voted for by almost 1,000 restaurant industry experts and well-traveled gourmets who make up The Diners Club® World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy.

This is our third year as The Official Financial Services Sponsor for The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. Our team was on the scene interviewing chefs, capturing event highlights live on Twitter and Instagram, and welcoming guests. Our highlights video gives you a view of the excitement before, during and after the big announcement, and captures insights on what these awards meant to the dining world and about the tremendous influence of Daniel Boulud:
