Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards are like the “Oscars for the Culinary World” and the winners were revealed for 2016 at the W Bangkok on 29 February.
Bangkok’s Gaggan won the coveted No. 1 spot as Asia’s Best Restaurant as well as the Best Restaurant in Thailand award for the second year in a row. Tokyo’s Narisawa continues to be a force at No. 2 and Singapore’s Restaurant Andre jumped two spots to No.3. Rounding out this year’s Top Five were Hong Kong’s Amber at No. 4 and Tokyo’s Nihonryori Ryugin at No.5.
The growth and diversity of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants’ list is quite visible with the wave of newcomers this year with 10 new entries like, Korea’s Mingles in Seoul (No.15) which received The Highest New Entry Award, sponsored by John Paul; Singapore’s Corner House (No.17); Japan’s La Maison De La Nature Goh in Fukuoka (No. 31), as well as Tokyo’s Den (No. 37); Singapore’s Wild Rocket (No. 38); Gallery Vask in Manila, Philippines (No.39), The Best Restaurant in Philippines; Kyoto’s Kikunoi (No. 42); Taiwan’s Raw in Taipei (No.46); China’s Ta Vie (No. 48) and Indonesia’s Locavore (No. 49), The Best Restaurant in Indonesia.
